Studio Hagel Designs New Circular Asics Sneaker

Asics and Studio Hagel launch Neocurve, a sustainable sneaker crafted from recycled materials, honoring Asics’ legacy.

Asics collaborated with Studio Hagel to create the Neocurve sneaker, a sustainable model crafted from recycled materials like deadstock and factory defects processed by Fast Feet Grinded. Production is exclusively in Europe, where the shoe will also be sold. Creative Director Mathieu Hagelaars aimed to blend Asics’ legacy with modern innovation by studying past designs and experimenting with new materials.

“With this project, we wanted to innovate while staying true to the Asics brand,” says Mathieu Hagelaars, Creative Director at Studio Hagel. “We went back in time and went through all the catalogues from the past 35 years at Asics’ European headquarters. We selected the styles that appealed to us. Then we started playing and experimenting to see how far we could push the concept we had in mind, to come up with something really new and innovative. We worked with factories, techniques and materials that were completely new to us. It was quite a puzzle to make all these new pieces fit together. To create a shoe that not only meets the brand’s high standards of comfort and quality, but also breathes and exudes Asics in every way. But the whole process was amazing to experience!”

The Neocurve will be available on ASICS’ website and select European retailers for €250 starting October 31.
