Just because a shoe isn’t packed with microplastics or synthetic cushioning doesn’t mean it can’t be comfortable. In fact, many sustainable brands put comfort first, aiming to challenge the assumption that eco-friendly means less cosy.
Earthbound Footwear is a perfect example.
From MIRET to Earthbound
Operating under a new name but with the same principles, the former brand MIRET is now Earthbound. A name that makes a promise as much as the product.
This is not just a rebrand but a reflection of the brand’s evolution. After five years as MIRET, the team felt it was time to adopt a name that truly captured the true scope of their mission. While MIRET will remain visible through the transition, Earthbound is now leading the charge into a new chapter.
Designed for the Urban Explorer
Drawing inspiration from hiking boots and modern orthopaedic science, these sneakers are purpose-built for daily life on hard, urban terrain.
They have a long-lacing system that allows for a snug, customizable fit. Beneath, the sole is sculpted to support all 26 bones and over 100 muscles of the foot, minimising tension during long walks. Topped with soft wool, the footbed is made with a light cork base to ensure comfort and lightness.
And for good measure, the sneakers are also water repellent. A feature that comes exclusively from the hydrophobic characteristic of lanolin and an additional bio-based nano-coating to boost protection. This natural compound of wool protects the pair from water, dirt and bacteria.
World's First Oeko-tex
Earthbound is making history as the world’s first Oeko-Tex® certified footwear. This means their sneakers contain zero toxic chemicals harmful to human health. That’s a rare badge of honour in the fashion world.
Their sneakers are a direct weapon against the plastic plague. Engineered with nature-made polymers and fibres to deliver a better product with a lower environmental impact, as they emit up to 65% less CO2 than the industry average.
Earthbound is built on the legacy of the award-winning MIRET line, crafting sneakers that are 97% natural and 100% full of intention and comfort. Their sneakers are made out of hemp, wool, cork, and natural latex, and are designed to last, look good, and feel good without any trace of polluting materials.
Because the future of footwear isn't synthetic, it's earthbound.
