Due to this high energy demand, data centres consume millions of litres of water annually to cool their servers, further straining environmental resources.

Additionally, AI hardware relies on the extraction of rare minerals such as lithium and cobalt, essential for specialized GPU chips. More importantly, mining these materials contributes to deforestation, habitat destruction, and resource depletion.
